Epicenter is always interested in hearing from like-minded individuals keen on experiencing Green River. We have several opportunities to be involved with what we do: we host year-long AmeriCorps Volunteers in Service to America, seasonal employees, and Frontier Fellows for month-long artist residencies. Check here to see if we have any new positions opening soon.
THE FRONTIER FELLOWSHIP provides creative professionals the opportunity to live and work in Green River for two to eight weeks. From this rural place, and in the context of the frontier, Fellows have the opportunity to generate new work that is informed by the residents of Green River and the surrounding desert landscape. Epicenter facilitates Fellowships throughout the year and encourages applications regardless of one’s background, focus, or specialty.
While in residence, Fellows spend half of their time working on personal projects and half of their time contributing to a project initiated by Epicenter. Fellows are given access to Epicenter’s vast network of partners, all the tools needed to build a house, work space within the office and workshop, complimentary housing, and an honorarium. Find out more about the Frontier Fellowship here.
SEASONAL EMPLOYMENT: Epicenter periodically hosts seasonal employees throughout the year for a typical term of three months, focusing on the summer months (May through September). All professional backgrounds are considered. Seasonal employees gain hands-on experience working within our community development programming including arts and culture, economic development, and affordable housing. Employees receive a modest living stipend, shared housing, and other benefits.
To apply for a position, send a letter of interest and CV or resume to firstname.lastname@example.org or PO Box 444, Green River, UT 84525. Indicate within the letter of interest, at minimum, the following: what interests you about Epicenter and Green River, your educational background and/or current practice, your availability dates, your capabilities that align with Epicenter’s programming, a web address of your personal website (if applicable), and what you would seek to learn from this position. We’ll follow up with you soon thereafter.
AMERICORPS VOLUNTEERS IN SERVICE TO AMERICA (VISTA): Epicenter regularly hosts AmeriCorps VISTA year-long positions. Similar to the Peace Corps but domestically based, AmeriCorps VISTA members are full-time government volunteers hosted by various organizations around the country focused on eliminating poverty in America. VISTA members work on capacity building—creating and expanding the necessary structures and networks an organization needs to get its work done. Epicenter got started with VISTA, and subsequent VISTA members have worked to expand each of our programs.
