For the past seven years, Epicenter has eagerly partnered with its community to address Green River’s problems and work toward the community’s self-sufficiency. Our approach is locally driven, human-centric, and holistic. We are a model for the power of design, art, and community.
Affordable Housing Initiatives
Epicenter seeks to eliminate substandard housing in Green River through initiating new multi-family housing development and through the design and construction of the Frontier House, a reproducible small home model that will teach best practices for efficient construction.
Epicenter staff are trained outreach specialists through the Business Expansion and Retention (BEAR) program and provide business resources to local and regional companies. We provide basic USDA RD application assistance and training workshop coordination. Epicenter also provides identity design, social media management, and print and web design services to local businesses, individuals, and nonprofits. Email us for more information.
Economic & Community Development
Epicenter works closely with the City of Green River on community development programs. We facilitate trails development trails development based on the City’s Trails Opportunity Plan, brand and identity development for the City’s tourism initiatives, city event coordination, and downtown beautification and revitalization planning.
Fix It First
Epicenter provides urgent home repairs to ensure homeowners have a safe, durable, and affordable home through our Fix It First critical home repair program. Fix It First projects address needs defined by the client working with Epicenter staff, such as roof leak repairs, siding repairs, window pane replacement, and accessibility retrofits.
Since 2011, Epicenter’s Frontier Fellowship program has hosted a variety of creative professionals from around the world. Fellows immerse themselves in the town of Green River for four weeks, responding to the Utah desert and generating place-based work alongside the community.
Epicenter provides a place for Green River residents to use the Internet and receive application assistance for social programs such as unemployment, rental assistance, and food stamps (S.N.A.P.), along with assistance in applying for housing grants and loans.
