Inventive exploration of place, examination of professional practice, and interdisciplinary collaboration have always been at the core of Epicenter. To expand on those central values and bring-in new blood, Epicenter continually hosts creative visiting artists and designers, and this practice was formalized into The Frontier Fellowship in 2011.
A rural artist/designer residency program, the Frontier Fellowship provides creative professionals the opportunity to live and work in Green River for four weeks. Fellows have the opportunity to generate new work that is informed by the residents of Green River and the surrounding desert landscape. The Frontier Fellowship allows Epicenter to host artists and designers to perform place-based and/or community-engaged small-scale arts/design projects. Epicenter facilitates Fellowships throughout the year and encourages applications regardless of one’s background, focus, or specialty.
